Corrections
If you have not recorded a run yet, read First split first.
How the three differ
Void closes a settlement that should not be paid. Write off records the unpaid balance as bad debt. A correction replaces the net or the recipients.
At the bottom of “Settlement detail”, the buttons are “Void”, “Write off”, and “Edit”.
After this You can tell which button closes the settlement, which records bad debt, and which starts a correction.
Void
Void closes this settlement so it is no longer paid.
Press “Void”.
After this The settlement is closed, and it drops out of “Settlements, last 90 days”.
Write off
Write off records the unpaid balance as bad debt. It is not the same as void.
Press “Write off”. Only the owner or an admin can do this.
After this The unpaid balance is recorded as bad debt.
Submit a correction
Changing the net or the recipients voids the original and opens a correction. Posted history stays.
Press “Edit”, change “Net amount” or “Recipients”, then press “Submit correction”.
After this The original is voided, and the difference is on the new correction.
Edit the title or notes
A change to only the title or the notes stays on this settlement.
Change “Title” or “Notes”, then press “Save”. An admin can do this in place.
After this The same settlement is updated, and no new settlement is opened.
Who can do this
These three actions do not share one permission.
The buttons are “Void”, “Write off”, and “Submit correction”.
- Void and a correction: the owner, an admin, or the person who created the settlement.
- Write off: only the owner or an admin.
After this Each button matches the role that is allowed to press it.
